Thermal Associates is a heating and air conditioning company servicing the Glens Falls area including Warren, Washington and Saratoga counties. We have been in business for over 40 years and it is our award winning service that has kept us here. Marty and Marj DeVit, founded Thermal Associates in 1982 leading the industry in green energy HVAC systems. Adam DeVit followed his father’s footsteps into the industry in 2004. Marty & Marj officially retired in 2023, passing the torch to Adam who plans to continue leading the industry using improved green HVAC technology.
Thermal Associates was a pioneer in air source heat pump technology during the fuel shortages of the 1970's and 1980's. As a logical progression Thermal Associates lead the way to earth coupled heat pumps, now called geothermal heat pumps or ground source heat pumps. Marty patented a heat pump in 1990 and was very active in the production of heat pumps in the Northeast under Cantherm and Amtherm.

Over the years, geothermal technology has progressively grown into highly efficient systems as produced by WaterFurnace Renewable Energy, Inc. As a company that has been working with heat pump technology for over 30 years, Adam DeVit, his family and Thermal Associates are industry leaders in the Capital District. Moving into our next generation, Thermal Associates is ready to lead the way with new HVAC technologies for our customers.
"They were respectful, helpful and neat. I like to say it isn't as much about what happens when things go right, as it is about what happens when things go wrong. They handled themselves very well."
"I just wated to tell you what a pleasent tech did our work. Very personable and a credit to your company."
"Adam was wonderful in taking the time to explain what the unit would look like, what would need to be done and explanation of the cost breakdown. The service techs were absolutely terrific. They were both gentlemen and treated me with respect and courtesy."
Adam began his career in HVAC as a helper during summer breaks in high school. After completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education, he soon realized he much preferred creating and installing intricate HVAC systems. He returned full time to train under his father, Marty DeVit and many other trained professionals to help mold his expertise. He has since received his IGSHPA designer certification, BPI certification and is a founding member of NY-GEO.
Outside of work, he is often found engineering Lego buildings with his son Lincoln.
